We will be performing a small “Simulated Emergency Test” (SET).

See attached ICS-201 for details.

ARRL’s annual Simulated Emergency Test (SET) is a nationwide exercise that focuses on the amateur radio community’s commitment to being prepared and practicing how to respond before, during, and after a communications emergency.

Our simulated “communications emergency” is that our repeater is down due to storm damage (power outage or tower failure).

DETAILS MAY CHANGE AS WE GET CLOSER TO THE EVENT

1. ASSUMPTION: The use of our normal repeater (146.625) is not possible due to storm damage (power outage or tower failure)
2. PLAN: Move to the back-up repeater (146.655) but not all stations are able to reach this repeater from their location.
a. Those able to reach the backup repeater establish a net though then attempt to reach participants unable to reach it using simplex (147.240) to relay information.
b. The backup repeater now begins to fail and everyone needs to move to simplex (147.240) but this requires some stations to become relay points.
c. In moving to this method, simplex, each station should be given the opportunity to determine who they are able to communicate with and this should be logged
d. Once all interaction is completed the information (matrix) of how stations were able to interoperate is collected
5. RESULTS: Careful logs are kept and a matrix of stations and who is able to reach who is developed for future use.
6. Ultimately the main repeater (146.625) is back on the air and everyone moves there to have an after action discussion of the event trial.
